The emergency meeting of the National Judicial Council (NJC) which was convened to deliberate on last weekend’s arrest of seven judges by the Department of State Service (DSS) ended inconclusive on Tuesday.

The meeting of the NJC which was chaired by the Chief Justice Mahmud Mohammed was adjourned to Wednesday (today) when deliberations would continue.

Vanguard newspaper quoted a source who said that although the council unanimously condemned the approach of the security operatives, they differed on the right course of action going forward.

It reported that “though opinion varied on the matter, members were however in agreement that the method the DSS operatives adopted against the Judges was bad and ought to be condemned in strong possible terms.”
