Nigeria- The Ebonyi Government has offered scholarship to 103 outstanding secondary school students in the last two years, the Director of the State Scholarship Board, Mr Elijah Ituma, has said.
He said the beneficiaries were winners of inter schools debate, quiz, essay, drama and public speech competitions in 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 academic sessions.
The director said the award was part of efforts to deepen reading culture among secondary school students as well as enable them to develop their intellectual potentials.
He said through the initiative, indigent but bright students from secondary level had been encouraged to realise their @academic dreams.
Secondary education is a critical phase in the educational attainment of any individual; therefore every attempt is being made to put our secondary school system in proper shape,” he said.
He also said that the government was encouraging efforts toward competitive learning among students of secondary schools through curricula and extra curricula activities.
