Ekiti State Government has advised the Labour Party candidate in the upcoming election, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, not to politicise the mid-semester break declared by the Governing Council of the Ekiti State University.
The state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr Tayo Ekundayo, in a statement in Ado-Ekiti stated that the move was a proactive measure aimed at ensuring that the students were safe with their parents and guardians during the poll.
Contrary to the claims of the Labour Party, Ekundayo mainained that there were no plans to disenfranchise the students as most of the students were resident in the state and would therefore be able to vote during the election if they were registered.
