Al Jazeera has reported that Nigeria's opposition party, the APC has declared victory for its candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the keenly contested presidential election.
Al Jazeera describes the election as 'marred by confusion, arguments and violence.'
It also noted that a Buhari win would be the first time an incumbent is losing to the opposition.
Lai Mohammed, the APC spokesman declared the victory for his party, saying: "this is the first time the opposition has voted a government out of power in Nigeria's history."
This would be described as jumping the gun, as Nigeria's election is far from over. INEC is yet to declare a final announcement for the election.
For Buhari to win, he needs to win at least 25% of two-thirds of the votes from all states in Nigeria and more than 50% of the total national votes.
