Leadership of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) in an emergency meeting during the weekend said Europe in some way contributes to the fuel scarcity situation in the country.
The association’s Executive Secretary, Obafemi Olawore, said vagaries of weather in Europe, where Nigeria gets its refined products’ supplies, is responsible for the fuel scarcity in Africa's most populous country.
According to him, refineries produce more of heating fuel during winter to the detriment of Nigeria and other countries that rely on them for production.
He said when this happens, a smaller quantity of fuel was produced for Nigeria, adding that the development resulted in scarcity of the product.
Nigeria experienced the same economy-crippling fuel scarcity situation about a year ago.
