Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has said that every ethnic group in the state has the right to aspire for the governorship seat of the state.

Governor Amaechi, however, stressed the importance of rotational governorship in the state, pointing out that apart from the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, any other ethnic group in the state could contest next year’s governorship election. Governor Amaechi is from the Ikwerre ethnic group in the state.

The governor also said that having ruled the state for eight years, it would be unfair for another Ikwerre son or daughter to aspire to become governor of the state next year. Governor Amaechi said this yesterday when the chiefs and elders of Ogu/ Bolo paid him a solidarity visit at Government House, Port Harcourt.
