Hon Jagaba Jagaba was making call for the upgrade of Nigerian prisons when he mentioned that everyone is a potential prisoner in President Buhari's government.
The chairman house of representatives committee on interior, on Thursday said the country's prison service should be upgraded because everyone is a potential prisoner under President Buhari's government, a former military dictator.
Jagaba said this on Thursday while commissioning of 239 operational vehicles and farm implements acquired by the Nigerian prisons service (NPS).
He said it had become important for prisons to be in good condition because governors and other top government officials were being imprisoned.
Jagba said the national assembly had been working hard to upgrade all the prison facilities across the country.
The lawmaker explained that funds had to be pulled from other government agencies to enable the prison authorities to have a tangible allocation in the budget.
“Everybody is a potential prisoner, especially in this administration,” Jagaba said.
“It is important that we have good prisons because governors, ministers and other big politicians are now being committed to prison.”
