Amidst reaction trailing the deportation of non-Lagos indigenes to Anambra state, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state, on Friday, said that only 14 rehabilitated persons picked from the streets and not 67 as reported were returned to their state of origin in Anambra State.
Governor Fashola made this clarification during a visit by the Aka Ikenga, Igbo community in Lagos, to his office in Alausa, Ikeja . He alleged that there was correspondence between the Lagos State Government and the liaison office of the Anambra State Government in Lagos.
Fashola also apologised for any pains his actions might haved caused the Igbos in Lagos.
The Aka Ikenga, Igbo community in Lagos further complained that the governor’s move had made it difficult to convince Igbo in the state and indeed Anambra to support the All Progressive Congress (APC) with Anambra election around the corner.
