Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron will visit French troops based in Mali later this week, report by AFP news says.
39-year old Macron, who was inaugurated on Sunday, has already spoken on the telephone to two French soldiers wounded in Mali.
France has a 3,000-strong force fighting against Islamist militants in five countries in the Sahel - Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mauritania.
