Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako is yet to respond to the impeachment allegations against him, says the Speaker, Alhaji Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri. The governor and his deputy, James Ngilari, were slammed with a 20-count charge early this month.
In a statement issued in Yola yesterday, Alhaji Fintiri said the house is constrained to invoke provisions of the Constitution to embark on two- thirds majority to compel further investigation by the state’s Chief Judge. This, he said, would pave the way for the constitution of a seven-man panel whose findings must be submitted to to the house. According to him,the governor is yet to reply to the allegations.
“We wish to assure the public ,especially the good people of Adamawa State that the House of Assembly is mindful of the seriousness of this matter and has resolved to handle same with the equity,fairness and the justice it deserves,” he said
