Kelechi Iheanacho could remain at Manchester City beyond this summer despite interest in his services from top clubs like West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace, Owngoalnigeria reports.
20 year old Iheanacho has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad since Gabriel Jesus became eligible to play for the team as he is now third choice forward with Sergio Kun Aguero ahead of him.
West Ham United agreed a fee with Manchester City for his transfer but disagreements over the fee and duration of a buy back option City wants in the deal held up the proposed move.
From then till now, City have hardened their stand on his possible exit following the frustrations they have suffered in their bid to strengthen their squad in the attack.
” Guardiola is no longer keen on letting him go unless a replacement is signed. As it stands now City only have Jesus and Aguero, considering the amount of games the team will play next season they need more than two strikers”, his intermediary told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” He could yet leave but the club must have his replacement signed before he leaves, he has been told in clear terms and he understands that is why he has said severally that he is staying at the club.
” Iheanacho wants to play but he has a five year deal with Manchester City, so they hold the ace. He is very young and still has a long way to go, even though he wants to move to where he is sure of getting games, City will have the final say”.
