Hundreds of women and youths in Umuoba Anam, Anambra East LGA have staged a nude protest against a traditional ruler, Igwe G. A. Ekwealor, who is said to be supporting herdsmen activities in the area.
The protesters also said their action to appease the gods because their traditional ruler defiled their land by allowing the Fulani herdsmen into their community where they have been causing untold hardship for them.
The Igwe denied the allegations.
Also, Chairman of Anambra East Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Alex Edozieuno, said Igwe Ekwealor was absolved of any wrong-doings when the matter was brought to the council.
He added that the council also invited elders of the community, who condemned the protesters and urged them to appease the gods for their action.
