Security has been tightened as Mali votes in a second nationwide parliamentary election this year.

It earlier held an election in August and this was followed by a spate of violence.

Election materials were delivered by United Nations force, Minusma. Election observers said before the vote that everything needed for a credible election was in place and they expect to have access to 90% of the polling booths.

The far northern towns of Kidal and Tessalit,
only features on ballot papers the party of President Ibrahim Boubacar
Keita, according to BBC. Opposition candidates say it has been too dangerous to campaign there.
