Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday announced that he is out of government for good.

Speaking at the 2nd World Sickle Cell Day event themed 'Improving blood safety in Developing nations' organised by the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, he said "I am out of government for good. I am happy to be out of government."

The Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation is charity based in London UK, established to improve human security for all in Africa, Daily Times said.

Obasanjo was a career soldier before serving twice as his nation's head of state, as a military ruler from 13 February 1976 to 1 October 1979 and as a democratically elected president from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.
