The Pro-Chancellor, Igbinedion University, Okada Prof. David Awanbor, on Saturday at Okada during the 11th convocation ceremony of the institution has appealed to the Federal Government to assist private universities in funding some of their projects, stressing that the assistance would ensure holistic quality education in the country.
”As a matter of fact and in the spirit of the need for quality university education for true national development, I am in support of the call by ASUU for improved funding of universities in Nigeria.”
“What must be known however, is that the intervention for quality university education cannot be limited to public universities alone.
“Private universities also need a lifeline from the Federal Government. To this end, I urge ASUU to include the concerns of private universities on their demand list to the Federal Government.''
Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State and Mr Kingsley Kuku, the Presidential Adviser on Amnesty were among the 12 graduates who were conferred with a Ph.D by the university.
They were awarded with honorary doctorate degrees in Political Science and Engineering respectively.
