Hundreds of onlookers cried for joy as a woman, believed to have mental challenge, delivered a baby boy on the popular Okpanam Road in Asaba, Delta State.
According to New Telegraph, people, who ordinarily would have avoided her, rushed there to give her a helping hand.
The woman, who was helpless because of her situation, was assisted until the placenta came out and the baby was taken to a nearby motherless baby home. Commissioner for Women Affairs, Social and Community Development, Rev. Omotshola Williams, could not be reached but one of the sympathisers, who identified herself simply as Ejiro, said “a call has been put across to her (the commissioner)”.
