On Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it employed about 2,000 new staff to strengthen its operational efficiency.

Addressing the press, Alhaji Halilu Pai, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti State said the newly engaged staff had already been distributed evenly across the 36 state offices in the country, including Abuja.

Pai said the INEC would no longer rely on adhoc staff for election purposes. He also urged stakeholders in the electoral system in Ekiti state not to be apprehensive about success or otherwise of next year’s governorship poll.

Pai also said that the commission was now being more proactive than ever toward ensuring that it was fair to all concerned in its activities.
