Manchester United on Thursday evening lost their Europa league match against Fenerbahce by two goals to one.

Fenerbahce striker Moussa Sow gave his side the lead within 65 seconds with an overhead kick, and Jeremain Lens curled in a brilliant free-kick in the second half.

Although United dominated possession, they failed to threaten the opposition defence, with Paul Pogba going off with a leg injury in the first half. Captain Wayne Rooney then smashed in a 25-yard consolation goal, late on.

Speaking after the game, Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho complained about his side's slow start.

"Our problems started in our global attitude. They were playing the Champions League final, we were playing a summer friendly.

"They deserved to win, football is not just about quality, it is also about effort, commitments, playing the limits and giving everything.

"A team that concedes after two minutes is a team that is not ready, not mentally prepared, not focused, not concentrated."

Speaking about United's chances of qualification, he said: "It depends on us. If we win our two matches we qualify."
