Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has replaced the immediate past petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, as the President of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC.
There had been speculations that President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources would take over the OPEC top job, but the body in a recent update on its website named Kachikwu as the head of the OPEC conference.
Kachikwu, who is also the group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), revealed his plans for OPEC, saying he would do his best to delay Iran’s intended oversupply of crude oil, to control pricing.
