Business Kachikwu's Tenure as OPEC Boss Ends After 2 Days

Nigeria’s Ibe Kachikwu is set to step down as Chairman of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) barely two days after assuming the position.

THE CABLE reports that fresh election was held on Friday at the 168th ordinary meeting of the organisation in Vienna, Austria, Kachikwu’s first meeting at the helm. The conference elected HE Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada, minister of energy and industry of Qatar, as president of the conference for one year, with effect from 1st January 2016.

Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum, became OPEC president on Wednesday, replacing former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
