The new Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Usman Tahir, on Wednesday announced the appointment of new principal officers for the Assembly.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the entire leadership of the house had been removed on Tuesday.
Announcing the new officers, Tahir said Umar Muhammed (PDP-Lere East), was selected as the Majority Leader, while Mrs Easther Habu (PDP- Sanga), would serve as Deputy Majority Leader.
Mr Phelimon Gidanmana (PDP-Makera), according to the speaker, would serve as Chief Whip and that the position of Minority Leader would be occupied by Alhaji Bala Yunusa (APC-Tudun Wada).
He said Alhaji Haliru Sambo (APC- Ikara West), would be the Deputy Minority whip, with Alhaji Yakubu Soja (APC-Zaria Kewaye) holding the position of Minority Whip.
The Clerk of the Assembly Hajiya Umma Aliyu, denied media reports that the House had adjourned its sitting indefinately.
He said “the House sat on Thursday, Sept.19 and adjourned to Tuesday, Sept. 24, when the former speaker was removed."
He added that the Assembly had also sat on Wednesday, Sept. 25, between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., when the new speaker announced appointment of new principal officers
