Lewis Hamilton has taken a major step towards winning the Formula One title by claiming the Russian Grand Prix victory on Sunday.
The Mercedes driver put up yet another dominant display in Sochi to claim a fourth consecutive victory, his ninth of the season.
His Mercedes teammate Nico Roseberg finished second in the race despite suffering a setback in the first lap of the race.
With three more races to go before the end of the season, the title appears to be between Hamilton and Rosberg who have a 17-point difference between them.
The race at Sochi was overshadowed by the outpouring of support for Marussia driver,Jules Bianchi who is in a critical condition after last week's crash in Japan.
However the race made up for dignitaries in attendance, with the Russian president Vladimir Putin in attendance.
To crown a successful year for Mercedes, the German company was awarded the Constructor's championship.
