The Libyan Prime Minister, Ali Zeidan on Wednesday during his weekly press conference has announced plans to issue new arrest warrants against officials close to the late Mouammar Kadhafi.

He said that the decision was against the backdrop of an order by Interpol to cancel the arrest and extradition warrants against some of the officials.

``Libya’s judicial authorities will issue new arrest warrants against some of those officials, including Mohamed Ismael and Ali al-Kuna, the military head of the armed operations against the popular uprising.

``Those targeted were involved in the assassination of civilians in Feb. 2011 and they must be tried for crimes against humanity,’’ he asserted.

However, the counsel to 12 pro-Kadhafi officials, Robert Guis, said recently that Interpol had cancelled the arrest warrants against some of his clients in conformity with the article of the international convention.

Report says that Al-Kuna has found refuge in Niger; he is suspected to have ordered several bombings of the ex-rebels while Ismael, a secretary to Kadhafi's son, Saif al-Islam, is being prosecuted for attempting to facilitate the escape of the ex-leader’s son.
