Pep Guardiola's Manchester City have been eliminated from the Champions League.

The English side on Wednesday lost on away goals after a 3-1 defeat to Monaco in France, which made the aggregate score 6-6.

Pep Guardiola's side put up a squalid first half display and were run rampant by the ligue 1 leaders, and fell behind in the first minute.

Benjamin Mendy jinked his way into the box and with plenty of time to pick his pass he played it across goal for Mbappe to score from close range.

Monaco doubled their lead a few minutes before the end of the first half. Mendy who fired a pinpoint cross for Fabinho to drill home from 10 yards.

Leroy Sane fired in to put City ahead on aggregate less than 15 minutes to the end of the game but slack marking from a set-piece allowed Tiemoue Bakayoko to head home the decisive goal.

In the other game of the night, Atletico Madrid played a goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen, also advancing to the next stage of the competition.

Monaco will now join Leicester City, Madrid and others in the quarter-final of the champions league.
