Shortly after a quarrel with his co-worker, a 28-year-old man, Haruna Abubakar, has allegedly murdered his colleague, cut his body into pieces and dumped him in the bush at Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.
Abubakar had an quarrel with the victim which resulted in a serious physical combat and in the process the suspect pounced on the deceased with a dagger, cut him into pieces and packed his remains in a sack and dumped him in the bush, New Telegraph learnt.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos, said the brother of the deceased, Adamu, reported the case of a missing person to the police after his brother did not return home after the day’s work. The incident was said to have occurred on Saturday.
After the report, the police swung into action and a clue was gathered which led to the arrest of the suspect. The PPRO said Abubakar later confessed to the crime and led the police to the scene of the incident and the dismembered body was recovered.
Badmos said the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence Investigations Department (SCIID), Panti, for further investigation and prosecution.
