A woman on a night out with her lover, Anthony Akhimien, was Thursday night killed and dumped in the bathroom of another compound in Benin City after a fight, police said yesterday.
The unidentified woman in her 30s was said to have gone to her lover’s house at 17b Akugbe Road, off TV Road, Benin City for the night, but a quarrel broke out late night, and neighbours heard them fighting at about 4am.
Daily Trust reports that Akhimien, a driver with a transport company in Benin who is popularly known as DPO by neighbours, after the death of the lady, took her corpse to the neighbouring compound and left it there. But some occupants realized this and alerted the police, while others abandoned their home for fear of being arrested.
Edo police spokesman, Moses Nkombe, who confirmed the incident, said the man had been arrested and would be would be charged to court after investigation.
“Yes, the incident happened, the woman visited her boyfriend and they had a quarrel which led to her death. After the killing, the man dumped the corpse in the neighbouring compound where she was discovered,” Nkombe said.
