The Nigerien government has denied claims that it extradited Saadi Gaddafi, the son of late Muammar Gaddafi, to Libya in exchange for 20 million dollars.

On March 6, the Nigerien government extradited Saadi and several Libyan refugees to Libya who had been in Niger since 2011.

The Nigerien government said it had extradited the Libyans because they failed to respect the terms of their stay in the country. However, a foreign magazine had reported that Saadi was delivered to Libya following the payment of 20 million dollars.
