Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Joy Ogwu, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, assumed the one-month rotational Presidency of the United Nations Security Council.
She took over from Ambassador Sylvie Lucas, the Permanent Representative of Luxembourg, who held the Presidency for the month of March 2014.
Nigeria was elected a non-permanent member of the Security Council on October 17, 2013 and will serve on the Council for the period 2014 to 2015.
