The Federal Government is to appoint two reputable international firm for a forensic audit of accounts of the all its revenue generating agencies,
According to Edo state governor, this is in a bid to promote and transparency in public accounting system.
He disclosed this after a meeting his committee held with some of the target agencies in Abuja on Thursday night.
The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Nigerian Customs, Securities and Exchange Commission, Central Bank of Nigeria, Revenue and Mobilisation Allocation Federation Commission, Federal Ministry of Finance, Nigerian Ports Authority, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, NEITI, among others will have their books combed by the firms.
“So we are convinced that by appointing audit firms, we will allow professionals to carry out the exercise which will be free from political connection," he said.
“We are sure that the outcome of the investigation will command the trust and confidence of all the stakeholders,” he added.
