Economic experts have expressed doubts as to how the federal government of Nigeria arrived at the current N87/litre petrol price cut, the Punch reports:

Excerpt:

Following the N10 reduction in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol, industry experts have said the Federal Government was not transparent on how it came about the new regulated price of N87 per litre.

They said the government ought to have publicly made available the current pricing template that showed the landing cost of the product and let Nigerians be clear that subsidy was no longer being paid for the product.

The Federal Government had on Sunday announced a reduction in the pump price of petrol by N10 in recognition of the impact of the sharp decline in global crude oil prices on the price of the product.
