The winners of this season’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), will earn N40million, the League Management Company (LMC) has announced.
Enugu Rangers are likely to be the receipients of the prize money, as they sit on top with 60 points from 35 matches. They have three more points than second-placed Rivers United, who could only draw 0-0 with Abia Warriors in their last game.
All 19 clubs will share a total of N200million, after Giwa FC were expelled for breaching the rules of the competition.
Last season, Enyimba got N30million as prize money for winning the league.
The lowest placed team in the NPFL this season, would be paid up to N55m in direct payments from the LMC from all payment Centres.
A statement from the LMC explained that “in addition to the direct payments clubs do also benefit from other indirect payments such as free registration of players and officials, free insurance, payment of match officials’ indemnities and hotel accommodation as well as sponsored seminars and other engagements funded by the LMC”.
