Sports NSSF and Taekwondo Federation laments lack of funds for its activities

President of the National School Sports Federation(NSSF) Mallam Ibrahim Mohammed has voiced out his frustrations over the lack funds which has hampered them from properly organising their events.

Mohammed complained that the National Sports Commission(NSC) does not make provisions for their funding, adding that they have to source for funds themselves.

“We are an association established by law but we don’t have our budgetary allocation. You need budgetary allocation to carry out activities of which the website you have mentioned is part of," he told The Punch.

“We are children. That is why we call on the NSC to support us since a child cannot grow without its mother. There is no budgetary allocation for me. The only money we have is from the sponsors, like Milo and Shell, and they are the ones who determine how we spend the money.”

Also president of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, George Ashiru lamented the same ordeal, calling for more corporate interest in Taekwondo.

Ashiru noted that the money they expend in the Taekwondo Federation come from the pockets of the Federation.
