The South African athlete, Oscar Pistorius, has been found guilty of culpable homicide, after Judge Masipa found hims guilty of killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp by accident.

He was found 'not guilty' of premeditated murder as the state failed to prove intent.

He was however also found guilty of negligently handling a firearm that went off in public - in a restaurant in 2013.

When Pistorius heard the verdict, he sat, rubbed his face and slumped forward momentarily.

The emotional response to the verdict wasn't explosive, as everyone who had been following the case knew what was coming.

The broken sprinter is currently facing a jail sentence of up to 15 years. Legal experts have however suggested seven to ten is the more likely sentence he will receive in the following weeks.
