Veteran Nigeria table tennis player Funke Oshonaike on Sunday won the women’s singles title of the 2016 ITTF Africa Senior Championships in Morocco.
The 42-year-old defeated 2015 champion, Egypt’s Dina Meshref, 4-2 to win the title, which had eluded her for two years.
The Egyptian has been unbeaten in the last two years, but Oshonaike with her experience and focus whipped the North African to emerge as the new continent’s number one star to emerge as the new African Champion, Oshonaike won (7-11, 11-13, 11-5, 11-9, 7-11, 7-11).
