Pakistan officials said that the Police arrested six men after a woman was gang raped on the orders of a village council to settle an honour dispute.
Police were searching for another four accused in the south of Punjab province after the incident was reported to police on Thursday.
The police official, Asadullah Khan, said that the tribal court ordered the rape of the 45-year-old widow to punish her brother for illicit relations with a woman from the same village.
Khan said that the victim was in a state of distress when she reported the Jan. 24 incident to police.
"At least three men raped the woman repeatedly,’’ said Khan, who was investigating the incident.
Tribal court rulings are common in many parts of Pakistan where there is little trust in conventional courts.
