It would appear no one in Nigeria is allowed to question the fact that the country's president has been missing in action for several weeks. We are told to take comfort in the fact that he sent a letter to the national assembly ceding power to the vice president, now acting president, Prof Osibanjo.
While we all pray for the speedy recovery of the President, it would be foolish to pretend this is not an issue. Even more concerning, it appears that the president could remain in London for well over a year and still remain in his elected office.
Any questions about the health of the president is seen as a statement of anti-progress or anti-progressives. You also get the occasional - it is none of your business, this is a private matter between the president and his doctor.
So far it appears the message from the government to Nigerians is simply: Speak No Evil, See No Evil and See No Evil
