Wild Polio Disease is reportedly back in Nigeria because boko haram terrorists prevented kids from getting vaccinated.
According to THE VERGE, the new cases are both in Borno, where half a million kids haven’t been vaccinated because Boko Haram controls the area, according to Stephen Cochi, a senior polio program scientist at the Centers for Disease Control. Not only that, but the massacres and violence mean that people constantly enter and leave the region, making it hard to track disease.
The Nigerian government is now preparing an emergency immunization program to prevent further spread of polio. At least 5million children are going to be immunized in the coming weeks.
