The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has accused President Buhari of killing the efficiency of the Nigeria Police during his time as a military dictator back in 1984.
He made this accusation at a public lecture on security held by the Police High Command in Victoria Island, Lagos themed ‘Providing Strategic Solutions To Emergent Security Challenges: The Essentials of Synergy Among Security Agencies and the Civil Populace.’
He revealed that Buhari seized all vehicles under the late Sunday Adewusi, who was the Inspector General of Police then under the suspicion that Adewusi wanted to take over the government from him.
While he wished the President a quick recovery, the Oba however urged him to undo all he had done now that he's back as a democratic leader. He implored Buhari to help fund the police vigorously, saying “The military in this country killed the efficiency of the Nigeria Police. The only thing saving us right now is that only a serving a policeman can become an IGP. If not, a retired army officer would have become an IGP.
