Oscar nominated movie Selma, which was directed by Ava DuVernay is set to be premiered in Lagos on February 8, 2015 for the first time in Africa.
The movie which starred Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo will be screened at the Rock Cathedral in Lekki, Lagos.
As the first Selma premiere in Africa, the screening was hosted by the Rock Foundation of the House on The Rock Church and the United States High Commission in Nigeria.
David Oyelowo and Carmen Ejogo are two among the movie stars who will be in Lagos for the premiere.
David’s parents are Nigerians who live in the UK while Carmen is born to a Nigerian Father and a Scottish mother both of UK Nationality as well.
According to the the senior pastor of House on the Rock church, Paul Adefarasin, “Peace and harmony is important to us all. Regardless of our ethnicity, religion or political persuasion, our country Nigeria must remain united and peaceful."

"We also seek to remind individuals with the Selma movie premiere event that regardless of any differences or grievances we may have, violence is not the answer, thus non-violence must continually be our stance.”
