On Monday, the Senate Committee on Aviation directed the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to suspend the new charges on airline operators pending the outcome of a stakeholders meeting.

Chairman of the aviation committee, Senator Hope Uzodinma gave the directive following a meeting with the relevant stakeholders in the aviation industry.

Addressing the airline operators who had come to the senate to lay their complains, Uzodinma said, "No one will allow NAMA to collect levy charges but you must also bear in mind that it has to be done in consultation with stakeholders".

"So choose a date for the stakeholders to meet immediately".

NAMA had mandated that that all Nigerian registered aircraft engaging in non-scheduled operations shall forthwith pay $2,500 for every departure. Foreign registered aircraft engaging in non-schedule operations were expected to pay $3,000. (NAN)

The answer to the development was never an industrial action. Some things just needed to change hands. datsall
