Shocking revelations have emerged from the ongoing war crimes trial of Chad's former President Hissene Habre in Senegal's capital.
Mr Habre is accused of ordering the killing of 40,000 people during his rule in the 1980s, charges he denies.
However a 187-page indictment of the ex-Chad dictator says otherwise.
There were dramatic scenes in court on Monday, as Mr Habre had to be been held down by masked security officers in the courtroom and repeatedly disrupted proceedings, shouting "Shut up! shut up!" as the indictment was read out.
A former POW Ousmane Abakar, says Hissène Habré's police executed 152 POWs in 1983.
According to the 187-page indictment dead detainees kept rotting in cells amongst living.
Dubbed "Africa's Pinochet", Mr Habre is the first former African leader to be tried by another African country for alleged atrocities carried out during his rule. He denies the charges, and says the court is illegal.
