Metro Stella Oduah Cautions Nigerians Against Fast Spreading Lassa Virus

The Senator representing Anambra North, Stella Oduah, has cautioned Nigerians to be careful and be alert over the fast spreading Lassa Fever in the country.

She urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of maintaining a clean environment to avoid further spread of the Lassa Fever as already reported in various states of the Federation.

"Maintaining a clean environment is key to avoiding the fast spreading Lassa haemorrhagic fever," she said in a statement.

"Avoiding close contact and reporting suspected victims to the nearest Health Centre will also help ‎to curb it's further spread.

"It is important for us to key into the ongoing sensitization campaign by the Ministry of Health and eventually, the disease will become a thing of the past. She said

Oduah also advised Nigerians especially in Rural Areas to get rat killers and other chemicals to enable them get rid of the virus infected rodents.

Outbreak of the disease has been discovered in 11 states in the country and over 43 have died of the hemorrhaging virus.
