No fewer than 47 people were killed and 16 others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Talo in Lome, a government official said on Wednesday.
The accident happened when a 56-seat bus collided with a heavy truck, leading to a pileup involving a minibus.
The government official said that 15 of those killed were Burkinabe nationals, one Nigerian and 31 Togolese.
Report says that it is the third fatal road accident in the African country this year, where roads are poor and vehicles often overloaded with people and goods.
It added that in February, 18 people died and over 50 people were injured in a crash.
