A trader, Useni Mohammed was on Wednesday sentenced to an hour community service by a Special Offences Court in Alausa, Ikeja for selling bundles of carpets in a prohibited place.
The offence reportedly contravened Section 1 of Street Trading and Illegal Market Prohibition Law, 2003.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.G. Oghre, also fined Mohammed N2,000 or to go to prison for a week.
Oghre said she was lenient, due to Mohammed's guilty plea to the charge.
She, however, ordered that his goods be released to him and told him to avoid trading in prohibited places.
