According to PUNCH, Abibatu Mogaji Model Market which is also known as Iponri market has been reopened 10 days after it was shut. Prior to the opening, each trader in the market was required to pay a fine of N500-N1,000 plus tender their APC membership card.

The market was allegedly shut down by Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, Lagos state market who stormed the market penultimate Saturday with a team of policemen and locked it without giving any explanation.

Traders who spoke to PUNCH anonymously said said the crackdown was the fallout of a fight between a woman loyal to Tinubu-Ojo and a member of the market committee. The woman was said to have been locked up in a police cell, which made the state market leader, Tinubu-Ojo angry.

Another trader said the market was shut down because most traders couldn't pay their rent which was increased by over 100%.

Market officials have confirmed the reopening of the market, they however refused to comment on the unusual demand for APC membership card.
