No fewer than five kids died on Monday during a stampede when collecting alms in Rafin Dari area of Katsina State.
Fifteen other kids said to have been injured during the stampede were currently recuperating in a private hospital in the town.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened shortly before the breaking of fast when some donors started giving each kid N500 alms.
There was a commotion as the kids struggled to get the money, resulting in the stampede and the resultant deaths and injuries.
Spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, DSP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident, adding that one Kamal had been arrested in connection with the incident.
The scene of the incident was calm on Tuesday evening although residents were still lamenting the issue which they described as unfortunate.
Meanwhile, Katsina city is now bubbling as residents make preparations to mark the end of the Ramadan expected to come up this weekend.
