The All Progressives Congress, APC transition committee has adviced President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint only 36 ministers.
According to THE CABLE, the committee led by Ahmed Joda in its report recommended that the President should have only 19 senior ministers and 17 ministers of state should be appointed, bringing the total to 36 in fulfillment of the constitutional requirement of one minister per state.
Since 1999, previous governments have had 42 ministers; one from each of the six geo-political zones in addition to one from each of the 36 states of the federation.
The recommendation of the committee is aimed at helping President Buhari reduce the cost of govt.
