President of the United States, Donald Trump has fired Angella Reid, the first woman and second African-American to hold the position of White House chief usher, because she made no secret of the fact that she remains a Hillary supporter and she refused to pander to the president.
'Angella is and was the consummate professional, and she was always respectful to President Trump but didn't go above and beyond,' a White House insider told DailyMail. 'And she he made no secret of the fact that she was a die-hard Hillary supporter.'
'Angella was not expecting this, she was totally caught off guard,' added the source. 'But she got a hefty exit package to soothe any disappointment.'
'We are very grateful for her service and wish her the very best,' an official said.
Reid's position is more like a director of operations at the White House. She was responsible for managing the residence overseeing all guests dignoevents.
The position is not political so it's highly unusual for someone to be fired from the position at the beginning of a new administration. There have only been 10 chief ushers since the position was officially created at the turn of the 20th century.
Reid, appointed to the position by President Obama, had only had the job for six years.
Stephen Rochon, who was chief usher from 2007 to 2011 and was the first black usher, said that the Trump transition team asked him to come back to 'run the house' but that he declined.
