There is tension in Warri South LGA of Delta state as a gas pipe belonging to the Nigerian Gas Processing and Transportation Company Limited, NGPTC (formerly known as Nigeria Gas Company) on Thursday exploded.
There are reports that the explosion was caused by the activities of oil thieves but residents blame it on equipment failure.
The explosion is causing tension in the area due to the build up of animosities between the Ijaws of Gbaramatu Kingdom as well as the Itsekiris over the naming of Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko in Warri South West local government area of the State.
No official staements has been made concerning the explosion.
