A senior member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Sam Nkire, has said that the plan by the people of Kogi West to recall Senator Dino Melaye from the National Assembly may not only be a wasted exercise but can also bring about division in the party.

Nkire told journalists in Abuja that it would be better for the people of Kogi West to save their energy until 2019 election, instead of embarking on an exercise which has no record of success anywhere in the country since the return of democracy in 1999.

The APC chieftain, who is a member of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), said the development was unfortunate and appealed to Dino’s constituents not to taint the record set by the ruling party.

He said recalling a legislator was such a long and tortuous process capable of gulping hundreds of millions of naira on both sides, which could be deployed to engage the youth and the unemployed in profitable economic endeavours.
